ABOUT THE PROJECT
The Land Use Bylaw divides the Town into various residential and non-residential districts, each with allowable and potential uses. Administration is currently proposing to add two new uses to some of Cochrane’s non-residential districts:
- Fitness Studio
- Recreational Vehicle Storage facility
Fitness Studio is any space where equipment or instruction is provided for activities related to physical well-being: dance, martial arts, yoga and other forms of physical exercise. This use was added to the Land Use Bylaw in 2014 and was added as an allowable use to two commercial districts: Local Commercial (in Heartland and Heritage Hills) and the Downtown Heritage District. Administration is proposing to add Fitness Studio to all other commercial districts in Town and to the Business Park District (the purple property on the map below).
Recreational Vehicle Storage is a business that temporarily stores recreational vehicles (RVs) in an outdoor storage facility when they are not in use. This use was added to the Land Use Bylaw in 2016 but is only allowed on one specific property in town. Administration is currently proposing to add Recreational Vehicle Storage as a use to the General Industrial District, which is the light grey area on the map below.
