Envision Cochrane 2050

Thank you for shaping the future

Thank you for sharing your feedback throughout the Envision Cochrane 2050 process. Together we've created a plan that reflects our community's vision for how we live, work, play and thrive. Envision Cochrane 2050 (EC2050) is Cochrane's official Municipal Development Plan (MDP) - a comprehensive document that will guide our growth and development over the next 25 years. It serves as the guiding framework for all municipal planning decisions, shaping policies on land use, infrastructure, servicing needs and community design. It also informs other key plans, including the Land Use Bylaw, Cochrane Sustainability Plan, Growth Management Plan, Area Structure Plans and Neighbourhood Plans.

Built on community input

Over the past two years, we engaged with Cochrane residents, businesses and community organizations through pop up stations, surveys, conversations and interviews, gathering input across three phases of engagement. More than 2,100 responses directly shaped the final plan, ensuring it reflects our values, aspirations and priorities. The plan includes policies on

  • Growth
  • Land use
  • Community design
  • Housing
  • Parks, recreation and natural areas
  • Arts and culture
  • Community and protective services
  • Mobility
  • Servicing
  • Economic vitality
