About the project

Cochrane is one of the fastest growing municipalities in Alberta, with considerable growth and development over the past decade. While, this rapid growth presented Cochrane with the availability of new and diverse housing, not all Cochrane residents are able to find housing that is safe, suitable, and affordable.

It is important for the Town of Cochrane to have a full range and continuum of housing so that all who choose to live in Cochrane are able to do so.

The Town of Cochrane and Cochrane Society for Housing Options have contracted Urban Matters to conduct a Housing Needs Assessment in Cochrane. The purpose of the study is to identify what types of housing are most needed.

This Assessment will help our community address housing gaps, so that we can have a healthier and more sustainable community.

Provide your input

Community involvement and participation in the Housing Needs Assessment is integral to its success. This project relies heavily on input from residents and stakeholders to ensure housing gaps are addressed in new developments.

All residents and stakeholders are encouraged to participate by completing the online survey (see attached link). Focus groups and key person interviews will also be conducted.

If you have any questions about the project, or would like to get involved in a focus group, please contact us

Following the public engagement conducted in February and March, the consultant will prepare the report based on data collected and survey results. The completed report will be presented to Town Council in June.

Thank you to everyone who took time to complete our surveys.
