Grand opening: Samuel Spicer Playground
The Town of Cochrane in partnership with Variety - the Children’s Charity of Alberta, is inviting residents to celebrate the grand opening of Samuel Spicer Playground on Friday, Sept. 11, 2026. The new inclusive playground is designed to be a welcoming space where children of different ages and abilities can play together, and where every child belongs and every family is welcome.
The playground renewal was shaped by feedback from residents and community members through the Town’s public engagement process. The Town thanks everyone who took the time to share their ideas and feedback.
Mayor Nagel, MLA Pete Guthrie, project partners, families and community members will join the celebration. The event will include opening remarks, recognition of project partners, a ribbon-cutting ceremony and time for children and families to enjoy the new playground.
